A Message From the Nutriwarehouse Owner:

My interest in the health food industry arose because of the poor health of my father. In 1971 my father had a massive heart attack. Sugars literally ate a hole in his heart. These unprocessed sugars sat in his lower left ventricle and destroyed the tissue. When he was doing some heavy lifting the tissue gave way and left a hole in his heart the size of a quarter. The doctors gave him six months to live.

My mother refused to accept this prognosis and started reading about alternative health care and how to take control of your own health. Soon she was working in a health food store and became very knowledgeable about vitamins, herbs, and other supplements. My mother wanted to have her own store, and as usual, she got her way -- she opened her store in 1978. This first store was only 1,200 square feet. My mother is now in her eighties and recently retired in the autumn of 2005 when we closed the original store. My father lived twenty-one more years after the medical experts said he would die. (He finally died due to complications from surgery to replace an artery in his right leg at age 83.)

We now have three retail locations in our operation. To provide our customers with the best products, prices, and customer service we added a warehouse facility as well. With all the space in our warehouse, we found we could offer great pricing and selection not only to our customers in our stores, but also direct to you, the internet user. I wish my father was here to see how the business has changed.

Our first web store, nutriwarehouse.com, focused on the best available vitamins, herbs, and other supplements. After several years of Nutriwarehouse.com success we wanted to expand our selection to include the best available gluten-free/wheat-free foods. Our second web store, Allergyfoods.com, catered to individuals requiring special diets free of common food allergens, particularly those with the celiac condition, autism, or dermatitis herpetiformis. In 2003 the two stores combined under the new name Healthyeden.com but in 2009 we went back to our roots and our original name, Nutriwarehouse.com.
